Rachel, thank you so much again. You are a phenomenal interviewer and I love your content. Looking forward to working together on some great things. 😊🖤
Awesome interview. I wasn't aware of Goths Against Cancel Culture but I'm so glad to know it exists. My wife is an ex(?)-goth from the Philadelphia scene and has felt despondent at the thought that her favorite subculture had drifted into cancel culture and identity politics. Good to know there is pushback.
It’s only going to get bigger too, and I’m pretty sure they have a chapter set up in Philly. Did your wife ever go to Shampoo? The original goth scene was a lot like the “scene” we find ourselves in today and I’ve been telling people this for years. Freedom of expression was always top priority. Look up Propaganda Magazine if you really want to have some fun. We were the original edgelords tbh.
My wife says that she went to Shampoo every week religiously for years. She says her friend Patrick used to hold goth night events there every week, as well as the seasonal vampire balls.
Friendly retro-suggestion from an ancient exogoth mutant world trav'ler say Return of the Living Dead and Roky Erickson were my gateway media. Look forward to checking out Crucifera. PEACE.
Exec. Director of G.A.C.C. here: Thank you for interviewing our founder @Danielle; she is an amazing human being and I feel so privelaged to be apart of G.A.C.C. and this quickly growing and evolving alternative/goth movement.
I was trying to recall sisters of Mercy as you said sisters of Mercy as a recommendation, West ball did the graphics on this, he became famous for that skill uncertain which films
You all, in passing mentioned arachnids, spiders, yep.
One (Known as Argyroneta aquatica to friends.) builds itself a diving bell, spins airtight web net tied to , stretched twix underwater weeds, swims 'neath shakes air bubble off it's body over and over 'till it's an air filled bell.
Then there's the cowboy booted fly fisherman spider. OK, I exaggerate a wee bit but she does extrude a length of spider silk with a dollop of sticky goop on the end, swirls it over her head like a cowboy lasso, tosses it at a flyby, reels it in like a fly fisherman.
The trapdoor guys, digs, lines a foxhole, builds a lid, hides therein lid opened barely enough for beady eyes to see and choose dinner passerbys.
& yes I youtubed listened to Danielle Astraea and she's cool, quite cool, but she'll never be as cool as Argyroneta aquatica! Grin.
Like geek culture, cosplay culture, etc… we’ve all been colonized by people who used to make fun of us and now wear our labels like a costume. Eventually, they’ll move on and make fun of us for “still” liking something they think they invented and left behind. That’ll be kind of infuriating but at least our tags won’t be full of e-girls anymore.

That’s hilarious. She probably knew Danielle, then. We may have even met at one time or another ourselves.
Entirely possible. If we ever all meet up you guys can compare notes!
I will ask her! It was before I knew her, we met when she moved to much-less-gothy NC.
Wow! This interview is amazing! Thank you both ladies for getting everything out. It truly excites me even more being apart of GACC.

I'm not into horror movies, but I'll make an exception for Return of the Living Dead. Absolutely the best 'B' movie ever. Better than most 'A' movies.
